Honestly, everyone making money online has an email list. This is the most important factor in your long-term success. After it’s built, it’s yours to use any time you want. It’s a resource you can tap at any time and generate income.
So, how do you build a list?
There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:
- Your Landing Page
- Your Bribe
- The Thank You Page
The Squeeze Page – The squeeze page is the first thing your visitor is going to see. This page is the one that asks them for their email. So, obviously it has to be well designed. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. And your call to action must be clear!
If you fail to make a strong close, you’re wasting your efforts. This is a definitive message that tells your visitor what to do. Without this your opt-in rate will plummet. It’s strange, but if you don’t tell people what to do, they won’t do it.
One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to add a video to it. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. And you can repeat the call to action several times int he video. And after the video, you can make it just say “fill in the form now”.

The Incentive – The second component is the reason they are opting into your list. People won’t give you their email for nothing. Most people are very protective of their email address. So you have to give them a good reason to do it.
The only way to make this work is to provide real value. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And something from which they can derive a benefit. This can be:
- A report
- Some useful software
- A video tutorial
- An email training series
You’ve got to create some great content. And make it both helpful and informative. And of course it has to be free. But to get the email, it’s got to be a good offer.

The Thank You Page – Finally, you need to consider your opt-in confirmation page. This is the page your subscriber sees after they opt in. A great thing to do here is provide some immediate value. This helps them feel they’ve made the right decision giving you their email. And it helps you establish the relationship. Then they’re more receptive when you email them.
